ANNOUNCEMENTS
Oct 30th. Curriculum
This week are back to looking at our Lutheran identity. I want to thank the Kusileks for the wonderful meal last week. We talked about the core things about being a Lutheran last week as well. (1) Lutheran believes in two sacraments which are baptism and holy communion. (2) The priesthood of all believers, in that everybody is a minister (this means all people are equal in God's eyes). (3) Everybody is Saint and Sinner (we all are broken people yet we are all loved by God). (4) The Universal Church (this is the reason we Lutherans do so much with other churches, we believe the universal church ties all Christians together). (5) Faith alone; God's word alone; and Faith alone. God's grace is a free gift of God. We rely on God's word (the Bible) for helping us navigate our lives. It is only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ that anyone can come to God. In that vein our theme verse was.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is a gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
Meal for Oct 30th will be by the Lokken's Family.
Worship Service Help for the Nov 3 will be the Halsteads.

Sept 18th. Service Project.
We are cleaning the ditches out on County Highway J. Please wear appropriate clothing for waking outside. Pastor Paul will be providing the meal. We will eat after we do the project because of the daylight available to us.
As you look through the website, there are still some spots I am updating. As we go through the year I will be taking pictures and updating the site with them. As we take more pictures, many of the older pictures will be coming off the site.

What is Confirmation all about?
Confirmation is an affirmation of your baptism and the next step in your faith journey of discipleship. This time includes practices of the Christian faith that are shaped by the promises made by your parents at your baptism: to come to the services of God's house, learn the Lord's Prayer, Creeds, and Ten Commandments, study scripture faithfully, and engage in the instruction of Christian faith. This time also includes lots of relationships. The main goals of Gethsemane’s Confirmation Ministry are to create a foundation of knowledge based on the Lutheran's church beliefs; to put our faith in action; and to foster relationships with mentors and others around daily life and faith. You may have lots of faith questions; you might not, not yet. The reality is that we can’t get to everyone’s questions even in the course of three years, but by establishing relationships with others you have people (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, congregation members, pastors) to ask, to ponder with, to be completely confused with and to learn from. These adults will model different ways of practicing their faith. Some of these ways might work for you, inspire you, be the coolest thing you have ever experienced. They will be there for you on your faith journey.
Confirmation is your public confession that this Christian faith is your faith and that you are now responsible for your Christian discipleship. Don’t worry, you are not alone. Confirmation is not required for your personal salvation nor is it a requirement of this church. Ultimately, confirmation is a choice to engage more intentionally and deeply into the Christian practices of faith.
